What Minerals do deer need?

  • Each mineral is important as they serve different functions. Calcium and Phosphorus are important for antler and bone growth, impacting the overall size of deer, while micro-nutrients such as magnesium aid digestion and ensure calcium is available to the system. When choosing a mineral, look for one that contains both macro and micro nutrients such as Rack-Maxx Complete Deer Mineral.

When Should you put out deer minerals?

  • Minerals like the ones found in Rack-Maxx Complete Deer Mineral are always beneficial to deer, but are most active late winter through the spring and summer when deer are trying to recover from rutting activity, when food supplies are depleted. Minerals greatly benefit the does during pregnancy and provide extra nutrition to fawns.

Do Minerals Help Deer?

  • Mineral supplements like Rack-Maxx Complete Deer Mineral provide additional nutrition support for your deer herd, resulting in increased antler, bone and muscle mass, reproductive success, immune response and rumen function.

How do I use deer minerals?

  • We recommend placing deer minerals like Rack-Maxx Complete Deer Mineral on the ground or on an old stump near pinch points or heavily used game trails.
Why feed WallhangerXL, Weekend Wallhanger  and Bean-Freak to your deer verses simply corn?

  • Our whole grain, premium deer feed products; WallhangerXL, Weekend Wallhanger and Bean-Freak are specifically blended to provide optimal nutrition for deer.  Crude Protein is one important key to growing larger, healthier bucks, does and fawns.  Corn on average has a minimum Crude Protein value of 6-7%.  With Crude Protein levels of 16% and 22%, you can see an increase of over 200% – 300% over corn, depending on the product.  Deer recognize nutritious food sources.  Once they consume WallhangerXL, Weekend Wallhanger and Bean-Freak, they keep coming back for more.
Should I feed WallhangerXL, Weekend Wallhanger  and Bean-Freak year around or only during hunting season?

  • Always check your state and local laws regarding the feeding/baiting of deer.  If you are allowed to feed/bait deer in your area, we recommend implementing a year around supplemental feeding plan to do so.  Deer need nutritious food sources and seek those out depending on the time of year.  Their need for supplemental feeds increase as naturally occurring food sources are depleted.  Feed WallhangerXL, Weekend Wallhanger  and Bean-Freak in the spring and summer months at a lesser rate than you do in the fall and winter months, but do make the attempt to feed year around.
Can WallhangerXL, Weekend Wallhanger  and Bean-Freak be used in a feeder?

  • WallhangerXL, Weekend Wallhanger  and Bean-Freak are clean, whole grain blends that easily flow through all types of feeders, including mechanical, pipe and gravity fed.  Our feeds will not “clump” and clog up your feeder like others do during periods of high humidity and rain.  If you choose, broadcast our feeds directly onto the ground for consumption.

Should I plant a food plot on my hunting property?

  • If your hunting property has an area where a food plot can be planted and has sufficient moisture for germination and growth, then you should make it a priority to plant a food plot(s).  Uncle Ted’s Premium Buck Plot is a dual season blend that grows in many different soil types while producing large volumes of highly nutritious forage for the wildlife found on your property.  Food plots work for you 24/7 once they have germinated.  Uncle Ted’s Premium Buck Plot requires minimal equipment so most any hunter can take advantage of the benefits a food plot provides throughout the life cycle of the grains found in our blend.
  • Our Buck-Wild Forage Blend is a spring/summer blend of Forage Soybeans, Buckwheat, Sunflowers and Sorghum.  Highly nutritious, this blend produces large amounts of bio-mass for not only your deer, but also turkeys and other wildlife.
  • Attract more deer and wildlife to your property.  Hold more deer on your property and grow bigger bucks on your property by planting a food plot(s).  Both Uncle Ted’s Premium Buck Plot and Buck-Wild Forage Blend are packaged in an 8-lb bag and plants a ¼ acre plot.
How do food plot blends improve soil quality?
    Buck Wild Forage Blend
  • Soybeans can pull nitrogen out of the air instead of relying on it in the soil for their growth, which is environmentally friendly and also increases soil nitrogen levels for the next crop rotation.
  • Buckwheat enhances the structure of the topsoil, improves its tilth, increases the water filtration rate and suppresses weeds.
  • Sunflowers soften and break up the ground for improved planting conditions.
  • Sorghum suppresses weeds and adds organic matter to the soil.
   Uncle Ted’s Premium Buck Plot
  • Oats provide quick, weed suppressing biomass and improve the productivity of legumes when planted in mixtures.  They protect soil, prevent erosion, and once they break down, oats release nitrogen and make it available for the next growing season.
  • Peas capture nitrogen from the air which they use to flourish and also add a portion of this nitrogen to the soil which keeps it healthy, reduces the need for nitrogen fertilizer and saves money.
  • Rape prevents soil erosion, produces large amounts of biomass, supresses weeds and the root system can improve soil tilth.
  • Radish roots soften and create channels in the soil that can make it easier for subsequent crops to reach water in the soil below.  Radishes are also known to benefit water quality by taking up nitrates from the soil.
  • Clover transforms nitrogen found in air pockets in the soil into organic compounds that help fertilize surrounding plants while the taproots and fibrous roots help loosen and aerate the soil.  This strong root system and dense ground cover suppresses the growth of weeds.
  • Sorghum suppresses weeds and adds organic matter to the soil.
  • Turnip root systems naturally dig in, break up compacted soil, and create channels where moisture and nutrients can penetrate.
